Composer
Lloyd played his first paying gig at thirteen. In the early 1970s he was a founding member of Haystacks Balboa on Polydor, opening for Rod Stewart and the Faces, Jethro Tull, and Ten Years After. In the 1980s he toured with Edgar Winter and Clarence Clemons.
Advertising work began at Sicurella & Smythe — Nestlé “Sweet Dreams,” Budweiser “Bud Man” (featuring Michael Bolton), and the CBS Super Bowl XXI theme, later the CBS college football theme. At Crushing Music he wrote Budweiser “Proud to Be Your Bud,” Dr Pepper, Coors Light, Greyhound, Xerox, and Coca-Cola.
In 1993 he started Red House Music (Cheerios “The One and Only,” Sprite “Stupid Song,” Avis, Pennzoil, KFC). In 2000 he closed the shop to freelance, quickly penning spots for Crystal Light, GMC, Pfizer, Gaviscon, and Toyota.
